Pregnancy Due Date Calendar
Figuring Out the Due Date
Here is how you can use the pregnancy due date calendar. You may type the first date of your last menstrual cycle in the pregnancy calendar. The calendar then does the calculations for you, and comes up with a good deal of useful information including the date you were likely to have conceived, the end of the first trimester, the date to book your first birthing class, the end of the second trimester, and your estimated due date (EDD). If you type the EDD given by your health care provider, the calculator will calculate backwards and come up with the information just mentioned.
According to the lunar calendar system, pregnancy is considered to last 40 weeks, 10 lunar months, or 280 days, which corresponds to roughly 9 calendar months. The first day of the woman’s last menstrual period is typically taken as the starting point of pregnancy, but conception takes about two weeks. This means that the actual pregnancy duration is 38 weeks, or 266 days, corresponding to eight and a half months. The German obstetrician, Naegele, developed this rule in the 1800s, which is known as “Naegele’s Rule”.
Naegele used the 28-day menstrual cycle as his base for calculations. A woman who has a 28-day menstrual cycle, and knows the date of the first day of her last normal period, can arrive at the baby’s due date by bringing the Naegele’s rule to use. This roughly corresponds to the 9 months and 7 days rule based on Julian calendar month. The online pregnancy calendar also known as pregnancy calendar date due calculator is available on a number of websites and provide you host of valuable information related to pregnancy, childbirth and the development of you baby. A pregnancy due date calendar may allow calculations based on both rules. You can use whichever you fancy, or try both.
